I was thinking of making a trip up there I heard it was a neat thing to see. Is it worth the trip or just a light in the sky?

As many times as we've been in the UP, we never did go to see that light, but always mention we should.

I wouldn't make a special long trip just to see it, but if you're in the area for other things-Nat'l Forest CGs, waterfalls Porcupine Mtns, Lake Superior, Copper Harbor (all further north), sure go check it out.  It's just north of Watersmeet on US45.  Bond Falls is just up the road from there too.

In the evening, the light just kind of appears, sometimes changes colors, and moves around, then disappears.  It does this over and over all night.

Many have theories, and National Geographic has covered it too.  It's interesting in a wierd kind of way.  I'm glad I've seen it.

Cheers, JC

We used to live in Minocqua, WI and drove out to see it a few times. It is neat because there is no explanation, it has not been disproved, and it has been studied many times. I am camping that way next week and thinking about driving my sons out to see it. It is a neat thing to see if you have the chance. It is not anything exceptional when you are looking at it. It looks like somebody is holding a light down there. The amazing part is knowing the history and research behind it.

Day photo of the viewing area.

One of the photos taken during the night

It was an awesome time I am going to go back soon. Only next time i go back i want to go during the mid work  week so maybe there will not be so many people there,There were 50 or more there. All the research i have done and all the people i talked to up there said you should not talk much and sit still. When ever cars came in to see it when there headlights shined down there the paulding light went away and took awhile to appear again. anyone want a GPS location on the veiwing area let me know i can post them or pm ya.
