I've had a Coleman Hot Water on Demand for several years now and generally love it with one exception: that stupid bubble jug water source.  Refilling the thing every 2.5 gallons is a PIA.  I bought the adpater that allows you to use it with a pressurized hose spigot, but we rarely camp in such places.

I rigged up a tap to my camper pressurized line to feed it, but I get leaks from my Rube Goldberg connections.
under pressure.

Just yesterday I was doing routine CLR cleaning on the thing when the threaded assembly that connects to the bubble jug came loose.  Lo and behold, the thing screws right off revealing a standard male hose fitting underneath on the pump unit.

I'd already modded my 20 gallon pup tank to put a shutoff valve that has a standard male hose fitting, so all I needed to do was cut off the male end of my extra white hose, put a female connector repair fitting on and connect both sides.  Now the pup tank feeds the HWOD pump directly via gravity and the bubble jug is unemployed!  Can't believe I didn't notice this years ago!

If anyone lacks a water heater on their pup, get one of these HWOD (~$260) units and plumb it like I did.  No pilot light, no anode rod, no losing the first 6 gallons of the tank to filling the unit and it's readily available on the living side of the pup (where we cook and wash dishes).  For our purposes, it's better than an onboard water heater.
