Just wondered how many Seniors are camping in pop ups. We are past the 65 year old mark, and have just returned to camping with a PUP. After many years of camping with various travel trailers, up to 28 foot, we have recently downsized to a tent camper once again. Thought maybe we have really lost it, but it has been a great and exciting experience. Any others of us out there?

Yup, there's some of us out there. I'm 63 and wouldn't camp any other way, except in the PUP. Don't really like the TT's cuz there's just not enough windows. We don't have A/C (just a good fan to keep the air circulating around) and are desert rats anyway, so summer temps are usually bumping up against 90-100 F when we do camp in the mountains here in SoCal. We camped at Big Bear Lake last year in August and the temps at 7K feet were still in the 80's during the day. Nighttime temps did get pretty cool, tho.

We missed you at the rally, Skip.  We were all wondering what happened to you.

We're 72 and this year sold our 35 ft motorhome to get our offroad pup so we can get to places we haven't been before having done the continent north to south once and west to east four times.

72 here, we're enjoying the luxury of our pup after tent camping many years. We like the pup for its easy mobility. We're in Mass. So far this year we've been to Florida, several short trips in the northeast and planning to go west in August for a month or so. We anticipate covering something over 10K miles this year.

We're not quite to retirement but we're old enough to be thinking about it and about what type of trailer we will want then.  Our conclusion was that an A frame would work best for us.  Time will tell if it's the right choice.

In our research before buying our new trailer, the information we found indicated seniors downsizing to small RVs including pop ups is a growing trend.  A lot of people no longer want the big trailers and motorhomes with toads, but are instead interested in being able to travel with smaller rigs for a variety of reasons.  Luckily there are plenty of small rigs with nice amenities for those of us who aren't interested in a big trailer and big truck to tow it with.

Interesting thread.

Sorry to burst the bubble but I'm a "senior" as well and there's not a chance on the planet I'd ever return to anything with tenting. Dead  Been there, done my time, enjoyed it thoroughly but have NO interest in ever going back, for SO many reasons. Dead  Just this past long weekend we did four days in a "tent / popup only" section of Pinery Provincial Park and had probably the best site out of hundreds in the Burley campground ... all dry sites, no services at all just like popup owners claim to prefer.  Our site itself was HUGE, with at least an acre of unoccupied land all around us and although the access roads were really tight it was only low overhanging tree branches that presented any concern at all, even for our 24' Spree which measures 26' 9" coupler to bumper.  Clearly, just because some of us prefer the conveniences of a travel trailer doesn't necessarily mean we can't go where popups go ... yeah, that's us hiding way over there behind those trees.Tongue Wink

Our PUP was our retirement gift to ourselves.  We have no regrets.  I turn 64 this month and DW is 60.

I do admit to checking out hybrids whenever I see one.

64 and 66 here. We have both a trailer and a PUP. As we get older, we seem to use the trailer more often but it is still fun to take the PUP out for a trip. I like them both I have to admit...

While not a senior yet .. i am retired .. and am using a rockwood Aframe as my 2nd home.
Often in my extended stays i see many seniors coming in with popups in just fabulous shape, to spend the Sunday to Friday morning time ... leaving just before the parks go crazy again on the weekends.
Go for it ... take your time ... and enjoy ...
