looking for helpful info....First Landing State Park, VA

Hi all,
We are preparing for a trip to First Landing State Park in VA next month and are looking for some input on things to do/see in the area.  We tend to stay off the beaten path as much as we can, but we will also do some touristy stuff (Boardwalk at VA Beach, etc) since this will probably be our only trip to this area. I have found plenty of activities online but would really like some input from other campers who have been there/done that!
DS will be attending a camp during the day but I am toying with the idea of skipping a day to do Williamsburg/Jamestown with him - he is really into history.
Looking forward to hearing about others experiences.
