Home Made Screen Porch - at Raccoon State Park

« on: May 30, 2012, 11:01:27 AM »

First trip of the year was the weekend of April 20 to 24th. Rain, strong wind gusts and the threat of snow - but we had a fantastic time! We're heading back there for Father's Day weekend.  Anybody from this group going to Raccoon this year?

We were at Raccoon the 2nd week of May.  We had great weather and the fishing was pretty good too.  We go there at least once a year.

Hey BDG - we really enjoy it too. We're heading up there tomorrow after work for the weekend. I've read some criticisms about the bathrooms being a little out of date, but they are clean and they work - that's good enough for us!

Well we had a great time at Raccoon. Saturday was the hottest but we had a nice breeze. We lucked into a wonderful situation - without knowing it, we booked the weekend that the TearJerkers (tear drop campers of Pennsylvania) were celebrating their 15 year anniversary. Two other groups (Ohio and W. VA) were there also to join in the celebration. No two tear drop campers looked the same and they were fantastic to watch.  Everyone in the TearJerkers and companion groups were very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to talk to them and see their setup.
The Raccoon Lake State Park website said nothing about this group's reservation - we were just lucky to find them there.

Last trip this year 2012 - going to Raccoon one last time before putting the Pop-up in storage for Winter. Anyone else going to camping Columbus Day weekend?
