My daughter will be attending Temple U. starting this fall and I am looking to take a week off and explore the region. What State and private parks do the locals and experienced campers recommend?

Thanks in advance :)

Stayed at Elk Neck State Park last summer and loved it.  About an hour from Philly, so not sure if it works for you.

Would recommend and would return.  Not crowded, spotless washrooms, lots to see and do.

There is a KOA outside Philly, http://koa.com/campgrounds/philadelphia/ and in NJ there is http://timberlanecampground.com/.

Best Regards,
Norm

My daughter went to grad school at Philadelphia University, so I know the drill!

When we visited her and camped, we stayed at the place Norm mentioned in NJ: http://timberlanecampground.com/. I think it's probably the closest campground to Philly, and it really isn't a bad place to stay.
