LED Replacements

Hi Ya'll... I'm looking for some help deciding on some LED replacements for my 09' Palomino Yearling Pup. I have #921 wedge style interior bulbs and a #1141 porch light bulb. I would like to have similar lumens to what I have now, but without the bluish tint that some led lights have. Thanks in advance for your advice............ Dave

The LEDs that campchefs linked to are only 252 Lumen.  That is less than your incandescents put out.

In my opinion the only RV replacement LEDs worth buying are made by either Command or Rigid.  They both have an excellent reputation for quality, color, and output.

Buy either the Command K-9010 or 170-112 at 510 Lumen and they are both warm white so no blue.

In the Rigid brand you have the choice of either 315 or 450 Lumen.

Those replacements are still way overpriced.  For under $15 you can get a set of three LED hockey pucks from Wallmart.  My pucks went for three years on one set of batteries.

I gotta look at these. We do a lot of dry camping, but want some leds that give good light.  I know they're expensive, but we dry camp for weeks at a time. Major power savings are worth it, to us.

I found a site that has great customer service and a large bright white pad that is 70% as bright as a 100 watt bulb, It has a 107 Milamp draw.

Was just doing a comparison to the printed circuit board 9LED warm whites that I have from www.superbriteleds.com, to the similar product being sold by www.led4rv.com.

The 9LED superbright version in warm white:
92 Lumen at 190mA (.19a)..................$22ea

The 30LED led4rv version in warm white:
446 Lumen at 24mA (.024a).................$15ea

I'm wondering if the info on the led4RV website is accurate.  Just called them, but no one answered. I left a message, so I'll report back if I hear from them.

Just to follow up, I did get a call back. Guy was really nice but his answer regarding power consumption was very confusing.  Some talk about how their website was wrong, but had just been updated (since my call?) and Lumens varied depending how the light was tested and who tested it, and the've come up with their own method that compares their LED to a stand 100watt incandescent house light bulb because people know how bright that bulb is?

Anyway, it's probably a good product, but I was left scratching my head after talking to the guy....and didn't place an order.  Would like to though, so I can compare to my 92 Lumen superbriteleds version.

I replaced most of my bulbs with superbrights - a combination of the 9 LED, 24 LED, and 36 LED. The 24 and 36 LED panels have not weathered the years well - rows of lights have gone out in every one. I have had no problems with the 9 LED panels though. The color of these lights is on the cool side - much whiter than the incandescents they replaced.

Recently, I have been seeing a lot of these in local RV stores (brand is Starlights):



These are the first LED bulbs I have seen for sale in an RV store. The description (Natural Light) was tempting enough that I had to try one out. The color was much warmer than the superbrights, and they were very bright. I had a few incandescents left, and decided to replace the rest with these from Starlight. I like them much better than the superbrights, and would buy these if I had to do it over again.

That's too bad that the superbrites started to fail.  I think I've had mine now for 4 seasons?  The one in the porch light is a 16LED board with 1156 base, and it's survived fine, as have the 92 Lumen 9LED boards in the ceiling.  I'd kinda like to go brighter in the ceiling, at least for the bulb that comes on in position #2, where both bulbs are lit.  So, I'm shopping!!  Still undecided.

$15, $22... is a lot of money for LEDs that can be bought much cheaper elsewhere.
For some reason people think paying more automatically means better quality. It is not always the case. Whatever they might tell you, those resellers with their high prices simply order them for cheap from asian distributors, and you can do just the same.
I bought all my LEDs on dealextreme.com (free shipping worldwide).
Haven't had one fail yet (3 seasons).

They are cool white (blueish) but I actually prefer that over the warmer white. 921 bulb type base, VERY bright, power draw is about 130 mAh.

I used two of the Command Electronics LED boards in my small TT.
The one over the sink and back in the bathroom are Command Electronics conversions.
I tweaked my camera until it sort of resembeled what my eyes were seeing.
