We just spent in early April a week at Vogel S.P. in North Georgia, it had hook-ups and was pricey.   We were going to stay at DeSoto Falls NF campground but they were doing work on their water lines and didn't know if they would have water so I had to make a decision and reserve Vogel.  We drove through DeSoto and it looked nice.  We did a lot of hiking and really enjoyed the area.

Neew guy here that just purchased his first pop-up. I have spent many nights in rougher areas in a tent and like Jones Creek and Boggs Creek. Jones Creek is more secluded but I think Boggs Creek has it beat on scenery by just a hair. Look into both of those, they are in the area of Dahlonega.

Check out the Tallulah River area in N Georgia.  Search it along with Persimmon Rd on Goggle Earth.

I am really late to this party, but we like to camp on Rock Creek near the Fish Hatchery.  Cooper's Creek area is nice also. Both areas have a campground (no hookups), but we prefer the more backwoods sites.  Going up tomorrow for the weekend!

Try the WMA (wildlife management areas). My brother and I camped in Coopers Creek WMA years ago. Not 1000% sure and you need to look into it yourself, but I think you can camp anywhere in a WMA unless its marked otherwise and as long as you drive or camp on wildlife food plantings.
