Hi everybody,

Wife and I just bought our first PUP last weekend (98 Coleman Santa Fe) and I am looking to do a camping trip to my home state. We have been looking at the State Park in Edisto SC. Does anyone have any experience with this Campground, or can suggest a better one? Bringing some of our Ohio friends down to see the Beauty of SC!

Edisto is a beautiful park but is a little far away from everything. If that is your desire Edisto is great. (If you come to Edisto in the late spring thru early fall there will be a lot of bugs.)

Hmm, well what campground would you recommend for a Beach SC vacation? I am partial to the Folly Beach and Charleston area.

You might like the James Island (Charleston) County park.

Hey there SirBigSur,

We'll be in Edisto for a week starting March 28th and leaving Easter.  We LOVE it there!

You can see pics of our trip last year here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/CampinPa/Edisto2009#

Edisto is broken up into two campgrounds.  The BEACH loop and the LIVE OAK loop.  The LIVE OAK loop is 1/2 mile from the beach and you may need to drive to get there.  The BEACH loop is, as the name implies, right on the beach.

Sites 1, 3 and 6 are not really friendly for a camper.  Sites 5,8,9,10, 12, 53-75 odd are the only ones that are really fully shaded.  16-50 are FULL SUN, so be prepared if your going in the summer months.

Hunting Island State park is another of our favorites.  Most of my signature pictures are from these locations.

Hope it helps.

Those pictures look great! Thanks for the heads up on the camp sites as well! How are the facilities in Edisto?

Facilities are clean.  DW and DD's don't have any problem using them.
