Apple skillet cake . Another one good for the DO or the home oven in a cast iron skillet.


3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp each: baking powder and ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp each: salt and ground clove
3 to 4 medium baking apples, sliced 1/4" and cored. Peels on or off, your preference
1 tbsp lemon juice
2/3 cup butter
1/4 cup cold coffee or milk
1 large egg, beaten


Combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder,cinnamon, salt, clove in medium bowl and set aside.
Toss apples in lemon juice and remaining white sugar.
Melt butter in DO or pan, add coffee or milk  and egg to flour mix, mix well.
put apples into DO with melted butter, do not stir. Pour batter over apples and bake at 350 for 45 min or until apples are tender and cake is puffed.

Let stand 20 mins ( cake will sink a little) serve warm.....yummmmmm
For a little variety drizzle some warm caramel sauce on top.... bigger YUMMMMM
