I've never replaced the cable on a Dutchman camper but hopefully someone will be along to help. From looking at the manual it looks pretty straight forward but having never personally seen one I can't offer any advice.

I have changed the cable for a 1997 Viking,  Most builders use off the shelf components, doors, heaters, lift systems etc. so their all pretty much the same.

I was pretty straight forward.  unbolt the housings, pull the lift springs, pull then re thread the cable and put back together.  (from memory as I did mine on Memorial day 2007.)

just follow the crappy directions in the book.  Bigest thing is to use common since.  It is not a complicated system.  The cable just runs from the winch to a pully in the back and then forward again.  There is a stop mid-way that pushes the fwd lift and a stop at the end that pushes the back lift.  That is all.  Not very complicated.

You might have the Goshen lift system

spring change followed by cable replace instructions

Folks have commented they contacted Goshen with good results!

Happy camping!

The Goshen system looks like the one I have. Looks like I shouldn't have much trouble. Thanks for all the help. I just bought this camper so I will have all winter to get it all fixed up and ready for spring.

The pictures of the "Goshen" system and instructions are the verbatium ones I had for the Viking.  Was not a hard repair.

Before you start, Get a can of black rustolium and a good exterior black Wood paint.   While your under there give the bottom a good freash coat of paint.  I doubt it's ever been done since new-make, and after 12 years it'll need it.   That way you know you have a good coat of paint on the bottom for the next several years.

Jeff, that sounds like a good idea. It did look pretty good under there, but it sure won't hurt a thing. I do have access to an oil changing pit where I can pull it over and make it easier to work on.
