I agree that the idea of making a temporary seat to span the distance between the two dinette seats (without the table) is a better approach than complete removal. It should meet the need and can be reversed.
I like that idea too - not too hard to make a small plywood bridge and a cushion to fill the gap and a back cushion that can be easily stoed in the extra bunk if we want to use the dinette.

I wont be opening the camper for a little while. Sorry and I have no pix now. But my floor plan is pretty much like the 6750 shown above. I may have mislead u in what I did. To try to clarify it... what I did was... on the part of the dinette seating that is towards the middle of the pup, next to the counter and sink area, i cut it - the storage part box seating part and back rest to about the size of half of what it was. So instead of it being about 3.5 ft long, it is now idk 2 ft long. The backrest is now even with the counter, where as it used to extend into the floor space 'hallway' another foot or so. Then I took out the table and the table leg holder from the floor, and just put a piece of plywood to span the open area. I did not need any extra cushions, as the part that you would normally use for the backrest now sits parallel to the pups outside wall and becomes that backrest and the seat cushion does not extend perpendicular out into the 'hall' anymore. It sits parallel and covers and spans that entire extra piece of plywood. Does that make sense?? Instead of the seat cushion sitting east/west, it now sits north/south.
I did not modify the seat that is next to the bunk. I only changed the seat that is next to the kitchen counter area. So I now have an 'L-shaped' couch. I LOVE IT!!!!
In such a small area, it does make quit a bit of difference. It gives us more leg room and a place for the granddaughter to play on the floor easier. Also takes away the irritant of crawling under the table for the small kids to get out of the interior seating position when their sibling doesn't want to move and no bumping heads and knees on the table. More benefits than I actually seen. Also laid a large rug down and cut it to size - a $20 outdoor Wal-mart rug and it is SOOOO MUCH more liveable and likeable.

That "6750" is how much the Nova cost brand new in '87. Only $15 more got you the Constellation and built-in shower that you could at a recirc-toilet too! Those were the days!

We never set up our table. We leave it down in the bed position (is a u-shaped seating area) and then we spread out on that to use the laptop, etc. Gives us storage under the table then for toiletries, shoes, etc.

I've got a couple of dealer brochures. Unfortunately, the photo of the floor plans of all their '87 campers are super small, like 2" square, each. So that's about as good as it gets.

Well, you can copy the url for that photo and paste it into your brouser and view full size. This website cuts the size way down.

Out of curiosity, what is on the side of the bench close to the big bunk? That is where the PO installed the "new air conditioner" and wondered what was there in the first place.
I also wonder why there isn't an outlet by the big bunk?? Would it have killed Starcraft to put an outlet there?

On the right side of the camper (door side) running from the doorway forward to the front wall, there is a countertop and a 2 door cabinet with a shelf inside. That outdoor locking storage compartment accesses the first lower area of that cabinet, so that's where we store the level, wheel chocks, an automotive scissors type screw jack, the 1/2" diameter steel bar for forcing down the stabilizers, and the lift crank, along with a tupperware type container full of spare camper parts, like funny plastic hooks on the ends of the shepard poles, and the plastic rotating locks like on the screen door, a spare propane regulator and threaded coupling, and the camper keys when it's being stored.
Too pad the PO put an A/C unit there because you lost some good storage and a nice bit of counter space.

Maybe I said the wrong area - the PO actually put the a/c in the bottom of the bench seating next to the bigger bunk facing out into the walk area. I don't see any wiring in that area, so I wondered if he just cut the size of bench and popped in the a/c or was there a furnace or maybe a door to access the area while the dinette is set up (which is what I will do when we move the a/c).
I was thinking about moving the a/c to either the tongue area where it would be protected by the propane tank cover (no battery, just propane - so some room) or in the spare tire area and relocate the spare tire to the propane area. Since both areas have hard covers, I thought that would be a great way to protect them when not in use and easy to open when we are camping.

Oh, now I understand. Under that forward most bench seat was just storage. At the walk-way end of the bench, there was a cabinet door, like the doors under that counter top. And then the plywood on top of the bench lifts to give access to the entire storage area. On my camper, the battery is stored under that bench, in a compartment next to the left wall. On the models with a water heater, the water heater was placed there, and the battery set out on the tongue.

Boy do those pics of your Nova's bring back memories. I had the exact same camper and loved it. I had to redo the roof and patch the canvas. What a fantastic camper. I sold mine cause my g/f wanted a smaller easier to tow camper, so we got a Viking 175SD. But we found a few things that we didn't like about the Viking, (lift system} so at the end of this year, we found a 90 Starmaster for cheap money, it needs a whole lot of Canvas work, but it's basically the same camper as the Nova with a Cassette potty and a shower. So it's back to Starcraft, LMAO. I agree that the interior is way to nice to permenently mod.

Almost traded up to an '87 Constellation a few months ago but didn't want to give up the real estate that the shower and recirc toilet took up. It was a tough choice though for a while because it was in beautiful condition having been garage stored and 1 owner almost it's entire life.
It appears Starcraft kept on with the Nova/Constellation "look" into the 90's because I've seen them for sale online, and they have the plastic propane and spare tire covers, plastic aerodymanic nose and tails, but they are the all white bodies with grey canvas. Kinda cool looking in that color scheme. Thought about finding one to match the year and color of the TV, but love the Nova to much to give up.
