Spring Break idea's???

 My wife, daughter and I are looking for a good camping spot for the middle of March. We live in Kansas and would like to go somewhere within 5 hours of Wichita. Thinking about either Missouri or Arkansas. We like to hike and geocache. We have been to Table Rock and Beaver lakes in the past and loved both of them. I was just checking to see if anyone had any great spots in the Missouri or Arkansas area's they were willing to recommend?

I second that curiosity! We're from Kansas too, near Emporia. We camped twice last year at Council Grove Lake- gorgeous and really nice and quiet! Tomorrow we leave for the long weekend at Tenkiller Lake in OK. It's going to be about 5.5 hrs drive or so, and that's only if the nasty weather they had today wasn't as bad as it looked! Looks like it's close to Ft. Smith, so that may be another trip...
So where else do you all recommend?

Not really sure if it's within 5 hours, but Devils Den State Park in Arkansas is really nice. Situated halfway between Ft. Smith and Fayetville on Highway 540.  Or, maybe Lake Eufaula State Park in Oklahoma?

I know it may seem a little soon to some of you. :) But does anyone have plans for Spring Break 2010? If so, when do you get to take Spring Break, if you don't mind sharing?

Hi Angie,  Long time no chat.. Sorry I haven't been on in a very long while..

Our Spring Break is March 15th week.  Weather permitting, the twins and I are headed to Branson for Silver Dollar City..  I am about to go nuts with this long long very long winter we are having..

Sounds like you & the kiddos are gonna have a blast over Spring Break! I haven't planned anything for us till June. I know I am ready for warmer weather and ready to get back out there and go camping!

I am ready for warmer weather too.....  I just hope the weather is nice because they will be so disappointed.. I haven't decided on a back up plan yet.. I honestly wouldn't know what to do if we didn't go to Branson..

June, you can't wait to go camping till June!!!  You have to get out and do something sooner.. At least in May for MOther's day..

We had a great time this year spending Spring Break at the White River in Arkansas. We even ended up lengthening our stay. :D Did anyone else get to go camping this year? (2012)
