My wife and I started GeoCaching about 6 months ago. It has truely added adventure to our lives. Our kids soon got the bug and now we go out together as a team. on Geocaching.com we are "TeamBrookins". With the new addition of our 1991 Palomino Popup we now are planning camping/geocache trips all over the East Coast!

If you haven't tried it, TRY IT!

This is free fun, something hard to find today and it has become a great chance to do something with our kids. They are teens so getting them to sit still long enough to even eat dinner with us gets tough but tell them we are going geocaching? yeah, they are ready.

Welcome to PUX davenmarie!

There are geocachers here too.   You're right, it's a fun activity for the family and you can find caches just about anywhere.

Happy camping and enjoy PUX.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.

So does our Nuvi!  After it gets us to the campsite, we use it for geocaching.  Can upload all the nearby caches from geochaching.com, directly into the Nuvi for each campground we go to.

It's a blast!

My family and I are just getting into this.  I don't have a typical GPS, but my brother's been gracious enough to give me his old PDA, and got me a gps for it.  As soon as I load some software into it, we'll be using that.  I was amazed to find how many caches are around my area...  even just downtown!  The kids are really looking forward to it, so this will make for some good memories

I've wanted to try geocaching for a long time now. I think I'll nose around for a GPS device and finally do it. Sounds fun.

It's a lot of fun and can lead to lots of adventures.  All the bomb scare type stuff is just a bunch of power rich homeland security $ infused blowhards trying to sound and look important.

If you'd like to get started, the activity itself is free on the website; once you get into it, going premium makes it easier.  To get started, a yellow etrex is all you need and that's easily under $100 new and probably much less used.

If you don't want to spend money to get started and don't have friends or family into it - look at waymarking.com
It's a different thing, but there you will find geocaching guides who will go with you to get started.
Such as http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM54NA near me
