I just want to take a moment and say thank you for all the advice and for having a wonderful website for us that are new to the pop-up world... Your members helped me with advice on a tow vehicle, and countless other issues that were already captured on the site... Bypass valves, how to light the hot water tank, refrigerator issues, leveling, grey water collection, storage ideas, and how not to have my own list of sput's...

Thank you for having such a great site!!!

Thanks for this great forum!  I bought a pop up four years ago after my daughter, Michelle, encouraged us to get one after tenting for many years.

We really enjoy Pop Up Times and the great articles!

Howdy!  Amyj here!  My sweetie, Bob and I are part borrowers of my Mom & Dad’s “retirement home”; a 2008 or 2009 Palomino Y-Series 4100.  They just upgraded last year from a Palomino Pony (1990-something I think) that they had for about 10 years.  We can usually be found camping at Cottonwood Camping in Bonner Springs one weekend in Sept-Oct while the Kansas City Renaissance Faire is going on (usually in the grass tent area, but this year we are trying out electric hookups!).  Sometimes we can be found at one of the Missouri State Trout fishing parks (I’ll be the one on the bank with a book since I caught my limit early, he he he!!!).  If you see us, give us a “Howdy” back and come stop in…we’ll have a cold one for you and most likely some hot stew to share!  In KC, look for the “Madidus in Publicus” banner flying so you will know it’s us!

On a side note, Sept 17-20 of this year will be the inaugural trip for the 4100…the Pony was cursed with precipitation at least once EVERY time it was used, so everyone keep fingers crossed that we can leave the curse behind with the new PUP!!!  (or if anyone knows of any charms, patron saints, etc. to help bring sunny days…pass the info on please!!!!!)
Thanks! And keep yer toes warm!

Howdy and welcome!  My DW is also an AmyJ and concidentally also outfishes me just about every time.  We're up in Idaho so I doubt we'll ever cross paths but it's nice to know someone else and a has cool camping, fishing, PUP-ing AmyJ like I do.

First post to introduce.

Been tent camping for the last few years since we sold our Aspen PU (towed it behind our Goldwing).

Missed the creature comforts of a PU, so we just picked up a Forest River Rockwood 2318G. Our one night of camping to try it out and love it. Going out for a full weekend this weekend.

Greetings from the great state of  Mississippi ! I tent camped for years but am finally too old to sleep on the ground if at all possible. I've joined your ranks with a 1990 Coleman Roanoke fixer upper. Wish me luck!

Hello to everyone; after spending a long time looking for the right popup at the right price I finally found a great deal last week.  I'm now the proud new owner of a very gently used 20000 Rockwood Freedom 1620.   I did a pretty good pre-purchase inspection and everything seems to be in perfect condition.  Specs/features on this:
8' long box with 2 48" wide bunks
Singe 20lb propane bottle on tongue
RVP/Coleman Mach AC unit on roof (blows cold air!)
Indoor/outdoor 2 burner stove
11 gallon water tank
Dometic 3 way fridge
Suburban propane furnace
Awing mounted on roof
Carefree Add a Room & Breezeway

I'm getting it all cleaned up this week, along with lubing the lift mechanism and hope to get it out for a quick overnight next week.  I'm looking forward to doing some of the many mods I've seen others do on this forum.  My first mod will probably be "flipping" the axle on the spring perches and putting a set of larger 14" LT radials on it.  I can't believe Rockwood sold this unit with cheesy little 5.80-12 tires!

new guy here.  We are former tenters that had our first kid this summer so we sprung for a new summer home to get us out there.  We normally camp when we're mountain biking...rarely camp for the sake of camping.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi.  I just had my newtome 2006 Rockwooed Freedom 190XR delivered a week ago...just in time to park it for the winter of course.  Here's a pic (click for full size version)

Can't wait for spring!  I'm likely going to extent the rails on the deck of the pup so they're about 2' tall and maybe add a small deck on the rear.  I think I need to get a WD hitch to make towing a bit more comfortable...I was planning on getting air bags for the truck at some point as well (for hauling as opposed to towing)

My mom and I just bought our first pop-up. We've been tent campers for a while, but Mom says her back is too old to sleep on the ground. We found this one on craigslist for $100! It needs some work, but we're already looking forward to going to the Grand Canyon this spring once we've got the whole and the tears patched.

Drat. I can't seem to get this picture to load.

Anyway.   PopUp Bronze Car Blue

Hi there everyone! I am Jason and we are just getting back into the PUP lifestyle again. This is our 3rd PUP and besides the PUPs we had a 27’ BH and a 38’ BHDS parked on a seasonal site. When our kids were younger they did not travel well so touring the state was out of the question for us so that is where the seasonal came into play. Now that they are 8 and 5 this is the perfect time to get back to traveling the state of MN. We are really looking forward to this upcoming summer.
